Alexandra MotternDirector

    Alexandra Mottern is a Lead Consultant at Washington Business Dynamics in Washington, D.C., where she serves as a Program Manager and public health communications and marketing consultant for Federal Government clients. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, followed by a Master of Public Health degree in Public Health Communication and Marketing at The George Washington University in Washington DC. While at GW, Alexandra was elected a member of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health and served as Editor-in-Chief of Cases in Public Health Communication and Marketing, a peer-reviewed public health academic journal.

    Alexandra’s passion is using her educational and professional skills to prevent and address substance abuse, especially among youth. Alexandra previously served as a youth mentor and later, Program Manager for Mentor Foundation USA, an organization focused on youth substance abuse prevention through innovative, evidence-based intervention approaches. For several years, Alexandra served as an expert contractor supporting outreach and communications activities and managing large-scale projects for various Institutes across the National Institutes of Health, with a particular focus on the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Arthritis, Musculoskeletal, and Skin Diseases.  Alexandra also helped lead communications and engagement efforts as a consultant for the military’s counter-tobacco and tobacco cessation program and for TRICARE.

    Alexandra also has many years of experience in the durable medical equipment (DME) arena, where she most recently served as Director of Marketing and Communications for a multi-million dollar nationwide medical sales company for more than 5 years.  She used her education and experience to develop communication and marketing strategies to engage broad audiences including physicians and clinicians, executives, business partners, internal employees, and patients and caretakers.

    Outside of work, Alexandra enjoys scuba diving and spending time with her family and dogs.
